I spent a graceful weekend developing it and I really hope you’ll enjoy the results.The story behind
This theme was born in the kitchen. It was early in the morning and I felt a little dizzy. I definitely needed a glass of fresh orange juice; while having it, my mind suddenly got clear. i took a deep breath and thought I should design a theme describing that moment. This is what I tried to do.
Features
- search engine friendly (optimized title tags, consistent use of headings, TOC);
- valid XHTML (strict);
- no javascript;
- only 2 small CSS images for fast loading;
- custom 404 error page;
- custom archives page template, with a TOC;
- 468×60 banner spot in the header;
- 3 levels deep category menu;
- widgetized right sidebar;
- same style for the default sidebar elements and for the widgets;
- paginated posts;
- threaded comments (css support for 5 levels in depth);
- gravatars;
- styled sticky posts;
- a fluid layout using percents (well, the layout isn’t quite liquid, but rather elastic, for it has a maximal width set at 1280px; otherwise, with displays using high resolutions, the length of lines would make the text unreadable);
- two columns (for clarity) and fresh white spaces;
- a grid-based layout, allowing you to easily style any single post;
- CSS support for individual styles for posts (based on category and tag;
- readability;
- typographic accents (indents, first:line pseudo class, consistent use of fonts);
- structured and commented CSS file;
- hum… CSS3 round corners and some generated content using the :before pseudo-element;
Cautions
This theme is intended to run on WordPress 2.7 (and above) only. This means you CAN’T use it with a prior version.
Before you decide to activate this theme, I strongly recommend you to check your blog’s stats; if it has a considerable amount of visitors using IE6, you should think twice; OrangeJuice looks decent in IE6 (or 7), but not as nice as in Firefox, Safari or Chrome.Usage
- download the zip archive containing the theme;
- extract the theme folder;
- upload it on the server (in the wp-content/themes directory) via FTP;
- activate it, in the administrative area of your blog (Appearance > Themes);
